Come Sing With Us

You'd think that a chorus this good would be hard to get into, but think again. We are what used to be called a "y'all come" chorus. No auditions are required, just a warm and willing spirit -- warm toward each other and willing to work hard learning and making great music.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do you really mean no auditions?
Yes, we really do.  Just come to a rehearsal, sign in,
find your section and start singing.

     What are your requirements?
Basically we ask you to do three things:
            1.
Commit to attend at least 75% of rehearsals.  This
usually means 6-7 times for each major concert.
This is the minimum needed for you to be an
                effective member of One Voice.

            2.
Contribute a $20 participation fee for each major
concert.  This helps provide music (which is yours
to keep) and meet other expenses of the chorus.

            3.
Help grow our audience.  Most of the people who
attend our concerts purchase their tickets from
chorus members.  Nobody’s crazy about selling
tickets, but that is exactly what we need you to do.
After all, you've worked hard to prepare this music,
and you certainly want people to come to hear it.

     What about solos?
We have soloists when needed - sometimes we use
professionals from outside the chorus, and sometimes
we audition from the chorus.  We also audition for
membership in a select Ensemble that performs both
on our concerts and for various community
        outreach events.

Where (and when) are your rehearsals?
We rehearse at St. Giles Presbyterian Church, located
at 5200 Grove Ave.   Rehearsals are from 7:00 until
        9:15 each Monday night.

     What music do you sing?
We sing a wide variety of music.   Over the course of a
        year, we may sing:

                 · traditional Spirituals
                 · great choral music
                 · choral jazz
                 · larger works with orchestra
