NMAAHC curator Dr. Dwandalyn Reece will moderate a discussion about Hulu's The United States vs. Billie Holiday. The film was directed by Academy Award nominee Lee Daniels, with a screenplay written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks. It features Grammy-nominated singer Andra Day as Billie Holiday. It offers glimpses into the corners of her story which were overshadowed by the controversy surrounding Lady Day and her untimely death. Panelists will include Mr. Daniels, Ms. Day, and Ms. Parks as they share their perspectives on the star’s lasting influence.
